Wardrobe Builder Fitted T-Shirt by Wardrobe by Me

Wardrobe by Me updated her fantastic fitted T-Shirt pattern.  Affiliate link option here (I get a small commission if you use this link for your purchase).  Non-affiliate link here.  Full disclosure I received the pattern for free in exchange for testing, but I already owned the pattern and would have received the update for free anyway.  I just like her stuff enough to know it will fit great and be worth my time to sew.

I love V-necks and curved hems with my pear shaped figure.  I also love that when I sew a T-shirt it actually fits by bust and my hips and doesn't bunch up.  It is still hot here, so I just made two short sleeved, V-neck, curved hem T-Shirts, but will make a couple 3/4 sleeve and long sleeve when the weather finally decides to cool off.

They are both made out of rayon spandex knit from Jo-ann's which were both purchased specifically for this pattern.  The Bird fabric his here, do wash it cold and gentle because it wants to fade.  The dotted leaves Mykonos blue is here.  I like rayon T-shirts a lot, but try and stay away from solids so they don't highlight my lumps and bums, because the fabric will hug all of them.

I made a size 8 blended out to a size 12 for my hips (36" bust and 45" hips).  I removed an inch of length at the lengthen shorten line to get the waist even with my actual waist and to prevent bunching at my mid back.  I made a muslin with a rayon French terry to see if I needed to remove any length, but I never hemmed it so I didn't take any pictures.  I'm only 5'2", so this is a normal length adjustment for me.  Every fabric will behave a bit different.  The FT trial fit much tighter than the rayon finals and I'd probably want to size up for a thicker tighter fabric and this pattern.  I was fully aware that this would happen when I made up the rayon versions and I'm really happy with their fit.

I really like the cheater method of doing the V-neck that is used in the instructions. You attach it like it is a scoop neck, and after it is on you sew straight up from the V to create the seam in the center.  It does leave a triangle of fabric behind the neckband, but no one sees it and it is so much less fussy than trying to get the V exactly on center an no gap between the neckband and the shirt.

Happy Sewing!
