Wardrobe by Me Mirri--Expanded Size Range

Mirri is my favorite knit pattern, because it is so simple to sew and so elegant to wear.  I wear my Mirri tops with jeans to work or even dress them up with trousers to wear them to church.
I have blogged the neckline construction before here, and when I wanted to sew a dress for my sister's wedding, guess what pattern I used for the bodice?  Mirri of course.  So when Wardrobe by Me posted that she was expanding the sizes I was thrilled to sew a dress and a top with the new pattern.  The instructions have been re-done so that they are clearer and the pattern now covers sizes 0-24 US (30-54 EU).   I have included pictures of my other Mirris below.

I have made my Mirri's with stretch Velvet, Brushed Polyester, Double Knit (with really good drape), and Rayon Lycra knits. The rayon can grow when you wear them and if you use Joann's Rayon blends (that are pretty heavy and don't have the best recovery) you might find that you need to pin the front bodices together at the crossover.

Don't be afraid to blend sizes it is really simple to trace a larger size at the side seam if needed. These are size 8 bust blended out to 12 at the waist (thank goodness for sewing).

Don't be afraid of the pleats. There is a blog post here on how to fold them.

My dress is made with a Navy and Black double knit I bought from Cali Fabrics a couple of years ago thinking I would use it for my dress to wear to my Sister's wedding.  I ended up using a brushed polyester Lularoe instead, since it seemed more appropriate for a spring wedding.  I like the structure it provides to the top and I felt comfortable using it, because it had great drape when I was playing around with my fabrics trying to choose what to use.

The top is going to be a staple in my work wardrobe.  I'll probably pair it with jeans and wear it every week until someone comments that I wear it a lot, because I really love it.  I got the Telio navy and white polka dot fabric from fabric dot com.  It is okay, but I would have hoped it would be a bit thicker for the cost.  If you are wanting to conceal your lumps and bumps this is probably not a good choice (okay let's be honest rayon never is, but it is so soft and always has great drape).

My dress for my sister's wedding. (I attached it to Pattern Emporium's Starlight Skirt).

My Velvet Mirri Inside and Outside Selfies (I'd take better pictures, but it doesn't fit anymore).  This version always made me feel fabulous.

Joann's Rayon blend Mirri (I ended up having to pin the crossover together with this one, but I still love it).
Second Joann's Rayon blend that I used for the neckline tutorial.
Happy Sewing!  I hope you love Mirri as much as I do.
